Most of what I have seen about Linus Bicycles does a fine job of showing gentle people riding softly through parks. My Roadster 7i is not so unfortunate. I had to upgrade from a '72 Schwinn Speedster 3 speed (aka: Ol' Rusty). Like an old hotrod, I was constantly fixing it and having trouble finding the right parts. Fed up, my research led me to the Linus Roadster 7i.
The Roadster 7i had just the style I had in mind. The reviews were positive, so I bought mine in March of 2022. It's now been a few years and I have put many miles on this bike. I upgraded to a Brooks saddle and grips, and got the Market Bag and the Pouch, ostensibly making this bike an ultralight pickup truck. I live in Santa Cruz county (USA), where there is enough bicycle infrastructure and the weather allows me to use my bike as my primary transportation. This bike is holding up beautifully!
I've had two flats, riding through Home Chee-pot's (Depot's) parking lot. The window of the shift indicator got cracked, because I took one of those flats to a bike shop. The bolts and screws of the wheels and brakes get rusty, because I live near the beach. There are a few scratches in the paint, which is to be expected as much as this bike gets ridden. The rear fender got a little dented somehow, life is rough sometimes. The brakes still feel tight, the wheels are straight, the shifting is responsive, maintenance has been trivial, and the bike continues to feel fantastic. Hills in low-gear are easy, with the weight of my sneakers alone being almost enough to climb them, and stable at higher speed, bombing them on the way back down. It handles well at low speed, too, when mingling with dogs on leashes and jogging baby strollers. Sitting in a more upright position gives great visibility, and it's more comfortable and relaxed. As a bonus, I have received many compliments on how elegant this bike's design is, and have pointed quite a few people towards Linus.
Mountain bikes are great, for climbing steep inclines. Road bikes are great, for wearing lycra and traveling in packs. Cruisers are great, if you don't have to be anywhere anytime soon. This bicycle doesn't have a gimmick, it is the essence of what a bicycle is, done beautifully. This is the bicycle you live on.
When I set out to find a classic looking bicycle with upgraded/new components, I wasn't sure I would find exactly what I was looking for. That is until I stumbled upon Linus and read their reviews and researched the Roadster 7i. This bike has everything I was looking for, internally hub Shimano Nexus Gearing, hand brakes, 7 speeds for the hills of the Upstate of South Carolina and the hills of Western Pennsylvania (when we move North), and an entire accessory line to boot. I was gifted the Roadster 7i for Christmas, then I purchased the Linus Alloy Chainguard, the Linus Headlamp 2.0, the Linus Deco Fender Light, the Sidestriker Brass Bell, and the Linus Market Bag (mustard) and it truly is the bike I had in mind. Took a while to get off backorder (thanks Covid), but arrived easy to assemble and with pretty good instructions on getting it road ready. I did take it to my local bike shop after assembly to have a "safety check" done just to make sure I didn't screw anything up too badly. Have been riding it for errands and it truly is a blast to ride.
I am a bit worried about my first rear flat tire when I have to remove the pannier rack and rear wheel to fix, but that is my only concern with this bike. I love it! Highly recommend. Smooth shifting. Easy braking. Love being able to leave my urban apartment and run errands on the bike instead of taking the car. Thanks Linus!
My Roadster 7i arrived on time. Super easy to put together with regular shipping. Beautiful color, a deep, rich green. I've been doing about a 10 mile ride in the morning and she rides super smooth. The gears shift flawlessly and the brakes work perfectly. Truly enjoying my new bike and thank you.
I love this bike. It was hard to find with everything going on in the world, but I was able to order one and it was about a month wait before It was at my door. Totally worth it! The fit and finish is excellent, the paint is gorgeous, and it feels like a little tank. I was contemplating this of the 3i. Even though I live in Florida where there are not many hills, there are a lot of bridges to cross over intercoastal waterways, so I am glad I went with this. Even on flat roads, the range of gears is great. You have everything from really easy pedaling to turning it up and getting some speed as you race from A to B. I totally recommend this bike - I've been having such a great time with it so far.
i've been away from cycling for years. the Linus Roadster is my reintroduction to biking and i could t be more happy with my purchase.
Everything i wanted. Definitely glad i opted for the 7 speed, we have plenty of hills here in Tacoma WA.
I am 5'9" and i went for the medium. perfect fit as i have kinda short legs.
