*Do note some riders may be a little outside these height range recommendations but prefer the feel of a larger or smaller size. Stand over height measurement is not as important as how the bike geometry feels while it is being ridden. As long as the rider can reach the ground while sitting on the saddle, even if it's just their toes, this size will be compatible with their height.
At Linus, we believe that a commuter bike should encompass more than the journey from home to work. It's an idea: the "Village" approach to life where home, work and life are in close biking proximity. It doesn't matter if you live in a city, a town, or suburb, we can find our "Village" within the greater whole and navigate all aspects of life by bicycle. These short commutes reduce congestion, air, and noise pollution and make for healthier, happier communities and healthier, happier people.
So with this in mind, why did we make the choices we made in building a Linus bike? Ultimately, commuter bicycles get constant use and for this reason we chose light weight steel frames which are extremely durable, but still have enough flex to absorb the shock of bumps and potholes. During daily use, we often need to carry extra cargo and for this reason our rear wheels are built with thicker 13 gauge spokes. We think your bike should be easy to use and maintain so we chose an internally geared hub. This enables you to change gears while stationary and requires far less maintenance then a derailleur system. The gears need less adjustment and it makes for a cleaner and more attractive chain line.
Finally, a commuter bike should be a reflection of your personal style and aesthetic. This is the bike you ride every day, and like your favorite pair of jeans, it should be appropriate and comfortable in most situations. Working from the timeless European frame design, we offer an array of colors and models that express your personal style. A bike that is elegant, refined, and extremely functional. Linus.
